Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote hosting server or to exchange data between a hosting server and a client. Since the information exchanged by the two sides is protected, a 3rd party won't be able to intercept it, which makes SSH a preferred means of handling a web hosting account. The commands which could be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared server, for instance, the alternatives are limited since you won't have root access to the machine, so you may only create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, and so on. These are all actions which are carried out in the shared hosting account and don't require a higher level of access. Through a virtual or a dedicated server, you'll be able to install server-side software or to restart the server or just a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted through a command line, and if you don't use a UNIX-like OS, there are a lot of applications for other OSs, which you can use to connect to the remote hosting server as well.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting

You'll be able to connect to your semi-dedicated server account through SSH no matter which package you choose when you sign up. With some packages, the feature is provided as standard, and with others, it can be included as an extra upgrade for as long as you need it. You'll discover the necessary login information within the Hepsia Control Panel, provided with all accounts - the host/server name, the port number and the login name. You will be able to pick the password that you'll use and if you want, you may change it all the time with several clicks for even better security. You will be able to see all the commands which you can use upfront, since we've listed them along with examples of how they are used in order to carry out a particular task. As soon as SSH access to your semi-dedicated server account is activated, you will be able to use an FTP program and establish an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in VPS

You will be able to use SSH to control your content no matter which Linux virtual private servers you select when you sign up, as all of our packages offer this feature as standard. You will not have to add or activate anything manually - the minute your web server is prepared and you receive the Welcome e-mail with the login details, you could connect and start working on your web sites or any software that you would like to install and run on the web server. You'll have root-level access to the VPS and because the account will be isolated from the other accounts on the physical server, you will be able to do anything you would like with no restrictions. You could set up any app you require and which shall work on a Linux-based server, restart any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and work with your files and databases quickly and easily.
